If you don’t like change, I have good news for you:
GOD DOES NOT CHANGE.
This truth got me through my first semester of college. When everything around me was changing- where I lived, who I was living with, what I was doing, my friends, my church, everything that was comfortable and familiar- God was not. He remained the same.
See: What God Taught Me My First Year of College
I experienced more homesickness than I anticipated my first semester. I knew I would miss my family but I underestimated how much I would miss living in Texas and the connections I made there. When I started missing Texas REAL bad, I felt the Lord sweetly remind me: “Texas isn’t here anymore, but I am.” I know that sounds silly, but it was exactly what I needed to hear at the time.
It’s awesome to have personal revelations of God— His love for you, His peace washing over you, His goodness and faithfulness revealed in your circumstances. But what I felt during my first semester of college wasn’t an overwhelming, fireworks, movie-moment of God’s presence. It was a quiet assurance that everything would be okay.
He is not changing. He was with me then and He’s with me now. That simple truth carried me through that semester of homesickness and change.
My prayer is that this post would reach who it needs to reach. If you’re heading into your first semester of college and you’re scared, you’re not alone. If you’re worried about all the change, you’re not alone.
He is with you yesterday, today, and forever.
How have you seen the consistency and loyalty of God in your life?

One response to “When All Is Changing, God is the Same.”
College is a season of change all four years. Some change where they are living and who with every year, or maybe their major changes, or the change of relationships. But through it all, God remains the same. One way I’ve seen this in my life is when some friendships come and go.
